Plastic & Environmental Impact

Plastic & Environmental Impact

From our beginnings in 1969,  we have worked with plastic to help do more with less, delivering benefits for a wide variety of businesses.

Being a resilient, thriving business is important to us. We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint along the value chains in which we operate.  We are also committed to helping you do the same, whatever your industry.

We are putting plastics to work for a cleaner future by helping you reduce emissions, improve water quality and usage, formulate cleaner fuels and by developing more durable, robust solutions which perform for longer reducing the need for replacement and maintenance.

Sustainability & Environmental Impact

A study by Trucost – a research arm of financial information provider Standard & Poor’s – shows that plastic compares favourably to other materials and replacing plastic with other materials could raise environmental costs fourfold.

Making a kilogram of virgin plastic or steel releases the same 2-3kg of carbon dioxide, about 5 times more than wood. But, because plastic is so light, its overall cost compares favourably with other man-made material choices.

Recycling

We use plastics which are recyclable. Thanks to key partnerships and highly engaged employees, we recycle 98% of our waste. We are striving to improve on this. Currently, the 2% we don’t recycle comprise of chippings which are not recyclable.
