HEAD OF SALES & MARKETING – BARKSTON PLASTICS GROUP

Barkston Plastics Group is growing, and we’re looking for a commercially driven leader to shape our sales and marketing strategy. This is a hands on senior role where you’ll set direction, lead a small team, and drive real results across the business.
The Role:
You will take ownership of all sales and marketing activity, ensuring our commercial strategy supports long term growth. Your work will span strategy, team leadership, customer engagement, and performance management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver a cohesive sales and marketing strategy.
- Lead, coach, and develop internal and external sales and marketing teams.
- Set KPIs and ensure strong performance across all commercial activity.
- Oversee the full sales cycle, key accounts, and new market opportunities.
- Manage forecasting, pipeline discipline, and CRM accuracy.
- Lead digital marketing, campaigns, and brand development.
- Oversee exhibitions, events, and promotional activity.
- Work closely with operations, finance, and procurement to ensure alignment.
- Produce accurate commercial reports and monitor ROI on marketing spend.
- Ensure all activity meets company quality standards.
About You:
- Experienced commercial leader with knowledge and experience of manufacturing (knowledge of plastics is bonus).
- Strong background in sales, marketing, or combined commercial roles.
- Confident strategist who is also hands on and delivery focused.
- Skilled in CRM, forecasting, digital marketing, and team leadership.
- Commercially sharp, collaborative, and customer focused.

PLASTIC FABRICATION APPRENTICESHIPS (FULL-TIME) – LEVEL 2

Job description:
We are looking for apprentices in plastic fabrication/welding and lean manufacturing. Do you want to develop your skills in manufacturing in a forward thinking, supportive environment that manages challenging design work for clients across the world?
Are you interested in welding, hardworking, keen to learn and able to use your own initiative? If yes, we may have the right apprenticeship for you.
Becoming an apprentice with Barkston Plastic Engineering will allow you to build a wide range of manufacturing skills within a supportive and successful business. Our apprenticeships follow a structured programme under which you will receive close mentoring from experienced fabricators alongside support from our apprenticeship provider both at college and in the workplace.
You will learn the following:
- How to identify and understand the strengths and weaknesses of a variety of materials.
- Hand tools / machines – how to use tools such as plastic welding, routers, manual miller, lathe, annealing ovens, pillar drills, flame polishers.
- How to understand and follow engineering drawings and CAD models for projects from a variety of industries including pharmaceutical, emergency services and the car industry.
- Fabrication – how to fabricate units following a job sheet.
- Quality control and inspection procedures to BSI standards.
- Use power tools such as angle grinders safely.
- Recognised manufacturing standards for housekeeping, maintenance etc such as 5s.
- How to identify and manage maintenance needs for a manufacturing unit.
Pay will depend upon skills and experience that you bring to the role. As an employee you will receive 24 holidays per year plus 8 bank holidays.

Desired qualifications:

MACHINING TECHNICIAN APPRENTICESHIPS (FULL-TIME) – LEVEL 3

- How to set, operate and programme CNC machines (mills, routers and lathes) using industry-standard controls.
- How to safely operate manual machining equipment including manual mills, lathes, pillar drills and routers.
- How to interpret engineering drawings, CAD models and technical specifications.
- How to select appropriate tooling, feeds, speeds and machining streategies for different materials.
- How to measure and inspect components using precision instruments such as micrometers, verniers and gauges.
- How to work to tight tolerances and quality standards required across industries including pharmaceutical, emergency services and automotive.
- How to apply recognised engineering and manufacturing standards including 5S, safe working practices and continuous improvement.
- How to identify and manage basic needs for machining equipment.
Pay will depend upon the skills and experience that you bring to the role. As an employee you will receive 24 holiday days per year plus 8 bank holidays.

CNC PROGRAMMER

Job Description:
Are you a detail-driven CAD/CAM professional with a knack for interpreting customer requirements and translating them into CNC programmes? We’re looking for a proactive Alphacam Programmer with an interest in engineering design to join us and play a key role in transforming customer designs into manufacturable components.
You may have experience of programming and running a CNC Machine, or you may be a full time programmer looking for somewhere offering good quality work in a supportive and flexible environment.
Key Responsibilities:
You’ll be working across a variety of input formats and fabrication requirements, including:
STEP & CAD File Interpretation:
- Convert 3D STEP files into accurate 2D representations for programming.
- Recognise and apply fabrication-specific features (e.g. rebates, V-grooves) that may be required for fabrication.
- Create precise toolpaths with correct speeds and feeds, ensuring optimal machining performance.
PDF/Engineering Drawing or Model Replication:
- Replicate customer model or drawing accurately in Alphacam.
- Apply machining features (e.g. rebates, V-grooves) — even when not shown—based on fabrication requirements.
- Generate complete toolpaths with appropriate machining parameters.
- Ensure dimensional accuracy and feature replication for seamless fabrication.
Ideal Background & Experience:
We’re open to candidates from a range of CAD/CAM environments who can transfer their skills to Alphacam.
You might have experience with:
- Fusion 360, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, RhinoCAM, or similar CAD/CAM platforms.
- CNC programming and toolpath generation for routering or machining operations.
- Engineering drawing interpretation and fabrication planning.
- Working in joinery, furniture manufacturing, signage, or other precision fabrication sectors.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Attention to detail and ability to spot missing or implied features in customer files.
- Understanding of machining principles, tooling selection, and fabrication workflows.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with production teams to ensure manufacturability.
